암 예방 백신 허위광고
홍콩 보건부는 일부 의료기관들이 여러 종류의 암을 예방하는 백신이 있다고 허위 광고를 한 것에 대해 심각하게 대응하고 있으며, 시민들에게 미등록 의약품을 사용하지 말 것을 강력히 촉구하고 있다.
오늘(8월 31일) 언론 보도에 따르면 일부 의료기관들이 여러 종류의 암을 예방한다고 주장하는 "윌름스 종양 1(WT1)" 백신을 제공하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 보건부는 해당 사안을 심각하게 받아들이고 있으며, 법 집행 조치를 취하고 중국 본토 당국 및 홍콩 내 관련 사법 당국에 통보할 예정이다.
보건부는 WT1 백신이 홍콩에 등록된 의약품이 아니라는 점을 강조했다. 암 예방을 위해 이 백신을 제공한다고 주장하는 모든 광고는 허위 광고에 해당한다.
미등록 의약품을 불법적으로 판매하거나 소지하는 것은 절대 허용되지 않는다. 보건부는 해당 업소들에 대해 여러 차례 불시 점검을 실시했으며, 오늘 "HK 퍼시픽 아시아 메디컬 센터"를 포함한 홍콩 및 구룡 지역의 총 7개 업소에 대해 추가 불시 점검을 실시했다. 보건부는 해당 업소 책임자들에게 미등록 의약품을 불법적으로 판매하는 것은 조례 위반 행위이며, 징역형에 처할 수 있는 형사 범죄임을 엄중히 상기시켰다.
미등록 의약품을 불법적으로 판매하거나 소지하는 자는 범죄를 저지른 것으로 간주되며, 유죄 판결 시 최대 10만 달러의 벌금과 2년 이하의 징역에 처해질 수 있다.
또한, 의약품의 수입 및 수출은 수출입 조례(제60장)에 따라 통제된다. 관련 허가 없이 의약품을 수입 또는 수출하는 자는 범죄를 저지른 것으로 간주되며, 유죄 판결 시 최대 50만 달러의 벌금과 2년 이하의 징역에 처해질 수 있다.
False Advertising of Cancer Prevention Vaccines
The Hong Kong Department of Health is taking a serious stance against false advertising by some medical institutions claiming to offer vaccines that prevent various types of cancer, and is strongly urging citizens not to use unregistered medicines.
According to media reports today (August 31), it has been revealed that some medical institutions are providing the "Wilms Oncology 1 (WT1)" vaccine, which claims to prevent various types of cancer. The Department of Health is taking this matter very seriously and plans to take law enforcement measures and notify authorities in mainland China as well as relevant judicial authorities in Hong Kong.
The Department of Health emphasized that the WT1 vaccine is not a registered medicine in Hong Kong. Any advertisement claiming to provide this vaccine for cancer prevention constitutes false advertising.
The illegal sale or possession of unregistered medicines is strictly prohibited. The Department of Health has conducted multiple unannounced inspections of the establishments in question and today carried out additional unannounced inspections on a total of seven establishments in the Hong Kong and Kowloon regions, including the "HK Pacific Asia Medical Centre." The Ministry of Health sternly reminded the managers of the establishments in question that the illegal sale of unregistered medicines is a violation of the ordinance and constitutes a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment.
Anyone who illegally sells or possesses unregistered medicines is considered to have committed a crime and, upon conviction, may face a fine of up to $100,000 and imprisonment for up to two years.
Furthermore, the import and export of medicines are controlled under the Import and Export Ordinance (Chapter 60). Anyone who imports or exports medicines without the relevant permit is considered to have committed a crime and, upon conviction, may face a fine of up to $500,000 and imprisonment for up to two years.
