1. 하수구 투척 논란 :
한 여성이 불붙은 귀신 축제 제물을 사이잉푼 하수구에 버리는 모습이 포착되어 논란을 일으켰다.
음력 7월 우란절(헝그리 고스트 페스티벌)이 다가오면서 홍콩의 많은 주민들은 향과 제물을 태우는 전통 의식을 치르고 있다. 그러나 하이 스트리트에 위치한 사이잉푼 커뮤니티 센터(일명 하이 스트리트 고스트 하우스) 앞에서 발생한 사건이 시민들의 우려와 안전 문제를 야기했다.
지난 금요일 소셜 미디어에 유포된 영상에는 붉은 옷을 입은 한 여성이 하이 스트리트와 이스턴 스트리트 교차로에서 제물을 태우는 모습이 담겨 있다.
영상 속 여성은 아직 불붙지 않은 제물들을 길가의 하수구 입구에 직접 던졌다.
이 행위는 온라인상에서 즉각적인 비난을 불러일으켰고, 많은 네티즌들은 지하 하수 가스에 불이 붙을 위험성을 우려했다.
홍콩 현지 조례에 따르면 도시 배수 시스템에 물건을 버리는 행위는 엄중한 처벌을 받는다. 공공 청소 및 소음 방지 조례 제4조(1)항은 누구든지 수로, 하천, 도랑, 도랑 또는 저수지에 폐기물을 버리는 것을 금지하고 있다.
이 조례를 위반할 경우 최대 25,000홍콩달러의 벌금과 6개월 이하의 징역형에 처해질 수 있다.
또한 공공 기반 시설에서 부적절하게 불을 사용하는 것은 중대한 형사 처벌을 초래할 수 있습다. 형법 조례 제60조(3)항에 따르면 화재로 재산을 파괴하거나 손상시키는 행위는 방화죄에 해당하며, 유죄 판결 시 최대 무기징역에 처해질 수 있다.
2. 엘리베이터 조명기구 낙하로 여성 부상
지난 금요일 저녁, 침사추이의 한 상가 건물 엘리베이터에서 조명기구가 떨어져 한 여성이 부상을 입었다.
피해자 여성은 충격으로 어지럼증과 머리 부상을 입은 여성은 당직 중이던 건물 경비원에게 도움을 요청했고, 경비원은 즉시 구급대에 신고했다.
구급대원들이 신속하게 현장에 도착하여 여성에게 목 보호대를 착용시키고 퀸 엘리자베스 병원으로 이송했습니다. 당국은 조명기구 낙하 원인을 조사 중이다.

1. Controversy Over Throwing into Sewers:
A woman sparked controversy after being caught on video throwing burning offerings for a ghost festival into a sewer in Sai Ying Pun.
As the Lunar July festival (Hungry Ghost Festival) approaches, many Hong Kong residents are performing traditional rituals involving burning incense and offerings. However, an incident that occurred in front of the Sai Ying Pun Community Centre (also known as the High Street Ghost House) on High Street has raised concerns and safety issues among citizens.
A video circulated on social media last Friday shows a woman dressed in red burning offerings at the intersection of High Street and Eastern Street.
The woman in the video directly threw the offerings, which were not yet lit, into the entrance of a sewer on the roadside.
This act drew immediate criticism online, and many netizens expressed concern about the risk of the underground sewer gas catching fire.
According to local Hong Kong ordinances, dumping objects into urban drainage systems is subject to severe penalties. Article 4(1) of the Public Cleaning and Noise Prevention Ordinance prohibits anyone from dumping waste into waterways, rivers, ditches, ravines, or reservoirs.
Violation of this ordinance may result in a fine of up to HK$25,000 and imprisonment for up to six months.
Additionally, the improper use of fire in public infrastructure can lead to serious criminal penalties. According to Article 60(3) of the Criminal Code Ordinance, destroying or damaging property with fire constitutes arson, punishable by up to life imprisonment upon conviction.
2. Woman Injured by Falling Elevator Light Fixture
Last Friday evening, a woman was injured when a light fixture fell from an elevator in a commercial building in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The victim, who suffered dizziness and a head injury from the impact, asked for help from the building security guard on duty, who immediately called an ambulance. Paramedics quickly arrived at the scene, fitted the woman with a neck brace, and transported her to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Authorities are investigating the cause of the falling light fixture.
