2026년 8월 29일 홍콩 사건 사고 3개
1. 세관, 몽콕에서 코카인 3,620만 달러 압수 및 외국인 용의자 체포
홍콩 세관은 번화한 몽콕 지역에서 운영되던 마약 보관 및 유통 센터를 적발하고, 시가 3,620만 홍콩달러(약 4,620만 달러) 상당의 코카인 약 53.9kg을 압수했다. 49세 외국인 남성이 마약 밀매 혐의로 체포되었다.
단속은 8월 26일에 시작되었으며 세관 직원들은 센트럴 지역의 한 호텔 앞에서 용의자를 검거했습니다. 용의자는 격렬하게 저항하며 도주를 시도했으나 제압하고
용의자의 배낭을 수색한 결과 코카인 약 11kg을 발견하여 즉시 체포했다.
당국은 마약류 밀매는 마약류 관리법에 따라 중범죄로 간주되며, 유죄 판결 시 최대 500만 홍콩달러의 벌금형 또는 무기징역에 처할 수 있다고 재차 강조했다.
2. 웡타이신 빵집 천장 붕괴로 26세 여성 부상
8월 28일 오전 7시 54분, 경찰은 웡타이신 상풍거리 14번지에 위치한 한 빵집에서 약 4m x 3m 크기의 천장 일부가 콘크리트와 함께 무너져 내리면서 26세 여성 손님을 덮쳤다는 신고를 접수했다.
이 여성은 이마와 팔에 부상을 입었다. 온라인에 공개된 사진에는 바닥에 흩어진 천장 자재와 콘크리트 파편들이 보였다. 빵집 내부는 천장에서 떨어진 콘크리트 덩어리와 잔해로 뒤덮인 월병 포장지 등 아수라장이 되었다.
3. 불법 노동자, 징역형 선고
방글라데시 출신 불법 노동자 한 명이 8월 28일, 보석금 서약서를 소지한 채 샤틴 지방법원에서 징역형을 선고받았다.
이민국(ImmD)은 2026년 4월 13일 몽콕의 한 상가 건물을 급습하여 불법 노동자 단속을 수행해 34세의 방글라데시 남성은 음식 배달 중 체포했다. 피의자는 강제송환 금지 신청자임이 밝혀졌고 재판 후 22개월 2주의 징역형을 선고받았다.
이민국 대변인은 "이민법 제38AA조에 따라 불법 이민자, 추방 명령 또는 강제 출국 명령 대상자, 체류 기간 초과자, 입국 허가 거부자는 유급 또는 무급을 불문하고 어떠한 고용 활동에도 참여하거나 사업을 설립 또는 가입할 수 없다.
위반자는 유죄 판결 시 최대 5만 달러의 벌금과 3년 이하의 징역형에 처해질 수 있다. 이민법 제20조(1)(a)에 따라 행정장관은 이민자가 홍콩에서 2년 이상의 징역형에 해당하는 범죄로 유죄 판결을 받은 경우 해당 이민자에 대해 추방 명령을 내릴 수 있으며, 이후 해당 이민자의 홍콩 체류를 금지할 수 있다."고 경고했다.

1. Customs Seizes HK$36.2 Million in Cocaine and Arrests Foreign Suspect in Mong Kok
Hong Kong Customs raided a drug storage and distribution center operating in the bustling Mong Kok area and seized approximately 53.9 kg of cocaine with a market value of HK$36.2 million (approximately HK$46.2 million). A 49-year-old foreign man was arrested on charges of drug trafficking.
The raid began on August 26, and customs officials apprehended the suspect in front of a hotel in the Central district. Although the suspect violently resisted and attempted to flee, he was subdued.
A search of the suspect's backpack revealed approximately 11 kg of cocaine, leading to his immediate arrest.
Authorities reiterated that drug trafficking is considered a felony under the Narcotics Control Act and carries a penalty of up to HK$5 million in fines or life imprisonment upon conviction.
2. 26-Year-Old Woman Injured in Wong Tai Sin Bakery Ceiling Collapse
At 7:54 a.m. on August 28, police received a report that a section of the ceiling, measuring approximately 4m by 3m, collapsed along with concrete at a bakery located at 14 Sang Phong Street, Wong Tai Sin, burying a 26-year-old female customer.
The woman sustained injuries to her forehead and arms. Photos released online showed ceiling materials and concrete fragments scattered across the floor. The interior of the bakery was in chaos, covered in mooncake wrappers and debris, as well as chunks of concrete that had fallen from the ceiling.
3. Illegal Worker Sentenced to Prison
An illegal worker from Bangladesh was sentenced to prison at the Sha Tin District Court on August 28 while holding a pledge to pay bail. On April 13, 2026, the Immigration Department (ImmD) raided a commercial building in Mong Kok to crack down on illegal workers, arresting a 34-year-old Bangladeshi man while delivering food. The suspect was revealed to be a non-refoulement applicant and was sentenced to 22 months and 2 weeks in prison following a trial.
An Immigration Department spokesperson warned, "Under Section 38AA of the Immigration Act, illegal immigrants, those subject to deportation or forced exit orders, those who have overstayed their permits, and those denied entry are prohibited from engaging in any employment activities, whether paid or unpaid, or from establishing or joining a business.
Violationists may face a fine of up to $50,000 and imprisonment for up to three years upon conviction. Under Section 20(1)(a) of the Immigration Act, the Chief Executive may issue a deportation order against an immigrant if the immigrant is convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment of two years or more in Hong Kong, and subsequently prohibit the immigrant from remaining in Hong Kong."
