홍콩거래소, 파생상품 거래시간 연장 검토 중
홍콩거래소(HKEX, 0388)는 사상 최고치를 기록한 상반기에 이어 2026년 하반기에는 홍콩을 다중자산 생태계로 구축하는 데 주력할 계획이며, 거래시간 연장에 대한 구체적인 일정은 없지만 검토 중이라고 보니 찬 이팅 최고경영자가 밝혔다.
홍콩의 5개년 계획과 중국의 제15차 5개년 계획에 발맞춰 다중자산 생태계를 강화함으로써 홍콩을 강력한 금융 시장으로 발전시키고, 국가의 국제 금융 중심지로서의 역할을 더욱 공고히 하는 데 힘쓰고 있다고 말했다.
향후 전망에 대해 채권, 외환, 원자재 및 더 광범위한 자산군에 대한 관심이 더욱 높아질 것으로 예상한다고 말했다.
홍콩의 기업공개(IPO) 시장은 첨단 기술 분야를 많이 유치해 왔지만, 홍콩거래소(HKEX)는 자산 생태계의 다변화를 지속적으로 추진할 계획이라고 밝혔다. 현재 상장 예정 기업들은 기술, 바이오, 헬스케어, 광업뿐 아니라 소비재 분야까지 아우르며, 신경제 기업, 기존 기업, 다국적 기업, 그리고 홍콩으로 복귀하는 기업들까지 포함하고 있다.
런던 증권거래소가 거래시간 연장 계획을 발표한 가운데, 찬(Chan)은 홍콩증권거래소(HKEX) 또한 투자자 접근성 향상을 위한 홍콩의 방안을 지속적으로 검토할 것이라고 밝혔다.
현재 홍콩 파생상품 시장은 새벽 3시까지 개장하고 있으며, 거래시간 연장을 검토 중인 이유는 미국 시장과의 시간 중복을 통해 더 많은 미국 투자자를 유치하기 위함이라고 설명했다.
반면 현물 시장은 홍콩, 중국 본토, 기타 지역 등 다양한 투자자들의 투자 성향이 다르기 때문에 더욱 신중한 검토가 필요하다고 덧붙였다.
Hong Kong Exchange Considers Extending Derivatives Trading Hours
HKEX (0388) plans to focus on building Hong Kong into a multi-asset ecosystem in the second half of 2026, following record-high first half of the year. CEO Bonnie Chan Yi-ting stated that while there is no specific timeline for extending trading hours, the measure is currently under review.
She said the exchange is striving to develop Hong Kong into a powerful financial market and further solidify its role as the nation's international financial hub by strengthening its multi-asset ecosystem in alignment with Hong Kong's Five-Year Plan and China's 15th Five-Year Plan.
Regarding future prospects, she predicted that interest in bonds, foreign exchange, commodities, and a broader range of asset classes will increase.
While Hong Kong's initial public offering (IPO) market has attracted a significant number of high-tech sectors, HKEX announced plans to continuously pursue the diversification of its asset ecosystem. Companies currently scheduled for listing span not only technology, biotechnology, healthcare, and mining but also consumer goods, encompassing new economy firms, established companies, multinational corporations, and even those returning to Hong Kong.
With the London Stock Exchange announcing plans to extend trading hours, Chan stated that the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) will also continue to review Hong Kong's measures to improve investor accessibility.
Currently, the Hong Kong derivatives market is open until 3 a.m., and he explained that the reason for considering an extension is to attract more U.S. investors by overlapping trading hours with the U.S. market.
On the other hand, he added that the spot market requires more careful consideration due to the differing investment preferences of investors from Hong Kong, mainland China, and other regions.
