코스피, 외국인 3조 폭풍 매수에 2.4% 급등… 장중 7,000선 터치
외국인 3조 원 싹쓸이… 삼성전자·SK하이닉스 '반도체 투톱' 견인
국내 증시가 미국발 온기와 반도체 업황 우려 완화에 힘입어 파죽의 5거래일 연속 상승세를 이어갔다. 코스피 지수는 외국인 투자자의 폭발적인 순매수세 속에 2.4% 넘게 급등하며 장중 7,000선을 돌파하는 기염을 토했다.
유가증권시장에서 지수 상승의 주역은 단연 외국인이었다. 외국인 투자자들은 하루 만에 3조 1,599억 원어치를 순매수하며 지수를 끌어올렸다. 반면 개인과 기관은 각각 1조 9,847억 원, 1조 269억 원을 순매도하며 시세 탄력 구간에서 이익 실현에 나섰다.
미국 생산자물가지수(PPI) 안정에 따른 미국 기술주 반등 소식이 호재로 작용했다. 특히 글로벌 AI 반도체 수요 지속에 대한 기대감이 회복되면서 대형 반도체주로 외국인 자금이 대거 유입됐다.
삼성전자: 전일 대비 2.43% 상승한 27만 4,500원에 거래를 마쳤다.
SK하이닉스: 외국인 매수세가 집중되며 3.26% 급등한 164만 5,000원에 마감했다. 반도체뿐만 아니라 대형 자동차 관련주의 약진도 두드러졌다. 실적 개선 기대감과 해외 시장 내 점유율 확대 호재가 맞물리며 현대차그룹주 전반으로 온기가 퍼졌다.
현대차: 8.24% 급등하며 시가총액 상위 종목 중 가장 높은 상승률을 기록했다. 현대모비스: 7.05% 오른 가격에 마감하며 강세를 보였다. 삼성전기: IT 부품 수요 회복 기대감으로 3.66% 상승 마감했다.
환율 및 코스닥 동향
외환시장에서 원·달러 환율은 전일 대비 1.1원 내린 1,418.3원에 거래를 마치며 보합권에서 안정세를 유지했다.
외국인 투자자들의 대규모 원화 자금 유입이 환율 상방 압력을 완화하는 데 기여했다.
한편, 코스닥 지수 역시 외국인과 기관의 매수 속에 전일 대비 3.28포인트(+0.38%) 오른 864.65로 마감했다. 장중 879선까지 상승했으나 막판 이익 실현 물량이 출회되며 소폭 반등하는 데 그쳤다.
증권가 관계자는 "미국 물가 지표 안정에 따른 금리 인하 기대감과 한국 반도체·자동차 대형주의 확실한 실적 모멘텀이 외국인 수급 폭발로 이어졌다"며 "장중 7,000선을 터치한 만큼 향후 추가 상승 동력 유지 여부에 관심이 쏠리고 있다"고 분석했다.

The domestic stock market continued its unstoppable upward trend for five consecutive trading days, buoyed by warmth from the U.S. and easing concerns regarding the semiconductor industry outlook. Amid explosive net buying by foreign investors, the KOSPI index surged by over 2.4%, achieving the feat of breaking through the 7,000 mark during trading.
Foreign investors were by far the driving force behind the index's rise in the securities market. Foreign investors net bought 3.1599 trillion won worth of shares in a single day, driving the index up. In contrast, individual and institutional investors net sold 1.9847 trillion won and 1.0269 trillion won, respectively, engaging in profit-taking during periods of market momentum.
Korea Stock Market News of a rebound in U.S. tech stocks following the stabilization of the U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) acted as a positive catalyst. In particular, as expectations for sustained global demand for AI semiconductors recovered, foreign capital flowed heavily into major semiconductor stocks.
Samsung Electronics: Closed at 274,500 won, up 2.43% from the previous day.
SK Hynix: Closed at 1,645,000 won, surging 3.26% amid concentrated foreign buying. The strong performance of major automotive-related stocks was notable, extending beyond just semiconductors. Positive news regarding expectations for improved earnings and expanded market share in overseas markets combined to spread warmth across Hyundai Motor Group stocks.
Hyundai Motor: Surged 8.24%, recording the highest gain among top-performing stocks by market capitalization. Hyundai Mobis: Showed strength, closing up 7.05%. Samsung Electro-Mechanics: Closed 3.66% higher on expectations of a recovery in demand for IT components.
Exchange Rate and KOSDAQ Trends
In the foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate closed at 1,418.3 won, down 1.1 won from the previous day, maintaining stability within a flat range.
A large inflow of won funds by foreign investors contributed to easing upward pressure on the exchange rate.
Meanwhile, the KOSDAQ index also closed at 864.65, up 3.28 points (+0.38%) from the previous day, driven by buying from foreign and institutional investors. Although it rose to the 879 level during the session, it only managed a slight rebound as profit-taking volume emerged towards the end.
A securities industry official analyzed, "Expectations of interest rate cuts following the stabilization of U.S. inflation data, coupled with solid earnings momentum for large-cap Korean semiconductor and automobile stocks, led to an explosion in foreign investor demand." The official added, "As the index touched the 7,000 mark during the session, attention is now focused on whether it can maintain further upward momentum."
