홍콩, 연간 GDP 성장률 전망치 상향 조정:
홍콩 특별행정구(HKSAR) 정부가 최근 발표된 상반기 실적 호조와 견조한 단기 경제 전망을 바탕으로, 2026년 실질 국내총생산(GDP) 성장률 전망치를 기존 2.5%~3.5%에서 3.5%~4.5%로 1.0%p 전격 상향 조정했다.
5년 만에 최고치… 상반기 GDP 5.1% 달성
홍콩 정부 통계에 따르면 2026년 상반기 홍콩의 실질 GDP는 전년 동기 대비 5.1% 증가하며 최근 5년 이래 가장 강력한 반기 실적을 기록했다.
1분기 GDP: 전년 대비 5.9% 급증
2분기 GDP: 1분기의 강한 반등에 이어 4.3% 성장세 유지
이로써 홍콩 경제는 6분기 연속으로 10년 평균 분기 성장률(2.8%)을 웃도는 성장세를 이어갔다.
이번 GDP 성장률 상향의 최대 동력은 글로벌 인공지능(AI) 인프라 투자 붐에 따른 IT 및 전자부품 수출 급증이다.
AI 관련 제품 수출 폭발: 홍콩 전체 상품 수출에서 AI 관련 제품이 약 70%를 차지하는 가운데, 2분기 관련 상품 수출액은 전년 대비 63.7% 폭증하며 교역 성장을 강력히 견인했다.
관광 및 금융 서비스 실적 견인: 방문객 수의 지속적인 증가세와 더불어 자본시장 회복 및 국경 간 금융·비즈니스 서비스 수요가 서비스 수출 호조를 받쳤다. 안정된 노동환경(실업률 낮음)과 가계 소득 증가에 힘입어 민간 소비 지출도 5분기 연속 적정 성장세를 유지했다.
Hong Kong Upgrades Annual GDP Growth Forecast:
Based on recently announced strong first-half performance and a robust short-term economic outlook, the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has unexpectedly raised its forecast for real GDP growth in 2026 by 1.0 percentage point, from the previous 2.5%–3.5% to 3.5%–4.5%.
Highest Level in 5 Years… 5.1% GDP Achieved in First Half
According to Hong Kong government statistics, Hong Kong's real GDP in the first half of 2026 increased by 5.1% year-on-year, marking the strongest half-year performance in the last five years.
Q1 GDP: Surges 5.9% Year-on-Year
Q2 GDP: Maintains 4.3% Growth Following Strong Rebound in Q1
With this, the Hong Kong economy has continued to outperform the 10-year average quarterly growth rate (2.8%) for six consecutive quarters. The primary driver of this upward revision in GDP growth is the surge in exports of IT and electronic components driven by the global boom in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure investment.
Explosion in AI-related product exports: With AI-related products accounting for approximately 70% of Hong Kong's total merchandise exports, exports of such goods surged 63.7% year-on-year in the second quarter, strongly driving trade growth.
Driven by tourism and financial services performance: Along with a sustained increase in visitor numbers, the recovery of capital markets and demand for cross-border financial and business services supported robust service exports. Driven by a stable labor environment (low unemployment) and rising household incomes, private consumption spending also maintained moderate growth for five consecutive quarters.
