M+는 9월에 박물관 건물을 설계한 세계적인 건축 회사 헤르조그 & 드 메우론을 주제로 한 특별전을 개최한다.
"헤르조그 & 드 메우론: 집중 조명"이라는 제목의 이번 전시는 박물관 개관 5주년을 기념하는 동시에 헤르조그 & 드 메우론이 M+ 컬렉션에 기증한 중요한 작품들의 2단계 전시를 선보인다.
전시는 2002년부터 2021년까지 중국에서 진행된 M+와 타이콴, 베이징 국립경기장 등 주요 프로젝트 10개를 통해 지난 20년간 헤르조그 & 드 메우론의 건축 비전이 어떻게 발전해 왔는지 보여준다.
전시는 스위스 바젤에 있는 헤르조그 & 드 메우론의 기록 보관소 개방형 공간을 위해 제작된 목재 진열장의 복제품에 전시물을 배치하여 M+ 컬렉션에 기증된 중요한 모형, 도면, 재료 샘플, 프로토타입 등을 한자리에 모았다.
이번 전시는 M+ 포커스 갤러리에서 2026년 9월 12일부터 2027년 1월까지 일반에 공개된다.
To commemorate its fifth anniversary, M+ will host a dedicated exhibition in September spotlighting Herzog & de Meuron, the world-renowned Swiss architectural firm behind the museum's iconic structure. Titled "Herzog & de Meuron: In Focus," the event unveils the second phase of a major archival donation gifted by the firm to the M+ Collections. The showcase traces two decades of architectural evolution in China (2002–2021) across ten pivotal projects, including M+, Tai Kwun, and the Beijing National Stadium.
Drawing inspiration from the "Kabinett"—Herzog & de Meuron's research repository in Basel, Switzerland—the items will be displayed inside exact wooden vitrine replicas. This open-storage layout offers visitors a rare look at foundational architectural models, blueprinted drawings, material samples, and design prototypes. The exhibition will run at the M+ Focus Gallery from September 12, 2026, through January 2027.
