홍콩 경찰 태권도 클럽, 창립 50주년 기념 지역 대회 개최
조 차우 얏밍(Joe Chow Yat-ming) 홍콩 경찰청장은 홍콩 경찰 태권도 클럽이 최근 몇 년간 지역 간 교류 활동을 조직하여 홍콩 젊은 세대의 국가 정체성을 강화하는 기반을 마련했다고 밝혔다.
홍콩 경찰 태권도 클럽은 창립 50주년을 맞아 지난 주말 이틀간 '웨이강아오 대만구(Greater Bay Area)' 지역 500여 명의 참가자가 함께하는 지역 대회를 개최했다. 일요일 막을 내린 이 대회에서 홍콩 그레이트뷰(Greatview) 태권도 클럽이 홍콩 지역 클럽 종합 우승을 차지했다.
1976년에 창설된 이 클럽은 현재 300명 이상의 회원을 보유하고 있으며, 여기에는 각종 대회에서 홍콩 대표로 활약해 온 50명 이상의 현직 경찰관도 포함되어 있다.
개막일인 토요일에는 개인전, 혼성 복식, 단체전 및 스피드 경기를 포함한 품새 종목이 중점적으로 열렸다. 이튿날에는 개인 및 단체 부문 겨루기 경기가 진행되었다. 이번 대회에는 홍콩, 마카오, 광저우, 선전, 주하이, 포산, 후이저우, 둥관, 중산, 장먼, 자오칭 등 지역 내 11개 주요 도시의 선수들이 참가했다.
Hong Kong Police Taekwondo Club Hosts Regional Tournament to Mark 50th Anniversary
Joe Chow Yat-ming, Commissioner of Police in Hong Kong, stated that the Hong Kong Police Taekwondo Club has laid the groundwork for strengthening the national identity of Hong Kong's younger generation by organizing inter-regional exchange activities in recent years.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Hong Kong Police Taekwondo Club hosted a regional tournament over the weekend, drawing approximately 500 participants from the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area." At the event, which concluded on Sunday, the Hong Kong Greatview Taekwondo Club won the overall championship among local Hong Kong clubs.
Founded in 1976, the club currently boasts over 300 members, including more than 50 active-duty police officers who have represented Hong Kong in various competitions.
On Saturday, the opening day, the focus was on *poomsae* (forms) events, including individual, mixed pairs, team, and speed competitions. The following day featured *kyorugi* (sparring) matches in both individual and team categories. Athletes from 11 major cities in the region—including Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and Zhaoqing—participated in the tournament.
